Grassroots DJ collectives on building scenes and community from nothing. Every scene that matters started somewhere - a bedroom, a borrowed laptop, a night nobody was getting paid for. This panel is about the collectives who built rooms that didn't exist yet: not chasing a scene, but making one, then keeping the door open behind them. Expect real talk on turning a friendship into a movement, building safety into a space from day one, and what it actually costs - financially & emotionally - to keep something grassroots alive once people start paying attention.

About Kat ‘Katalyssst’ Friar: Kat Friar, better known as KATALYSSST, is a creative multi-hyphenate whose career spans DJing, photography, artist development and editorial. An A&R at 0207 Def Jam and co-founder of HITLIST Magazine, she is a respected voice in contemporary music culture, known for championing emerging artists and creating platforms that connect communities through music.
About Shanumi (Amen GyalDem): Amen Gyaldem is a pioneering collective committed to creating safer, more representative spaces within club culture. Through curated events and line-ups centred on Black and POC artists, they honour the multicultural foundations of electronic music while building a more inclusive future for the rave scene.
About Urbi (Not Bad For a Girl): Urbi is a DJ, producer and multidisciplinary creative whose journey into electronic music has quickly established her as one of the scene's rising talents. Known for her dynamic sets and commitment to inclusivity, she has performed across the UK while building a growing reputation in house and electronic music. Alongside her DJ work, her debut release Play It Back has earned support from BBC Radio 1 and Beatport.
About Xt1ana: XT1ANA is a London-based DJ whose genre-spanning selections and infectious energy have made her a rising name on the UK's club circuit. With a sound rooted in contemporary electronic music and global influences, she is recognised for bringing people together through music, culture and community.
